"Great Netbook, nice stlying, lightweight....small buts" 2009-07-25
By B. V. Dam (California, USA)
After carrying around a brick in my briefcase for years, I decided I needed to get a sub or netbook. After researching for months, I decided on the Samsung. I am very happy with this purchase

SCREEN - The screen is crystal clear, bright and well made so it is easier to read than I had expected.

KEYBOARD - My worries about the keyboard size are unfounded as it is surprisingly large and easy to type on even long term

FEATURES - Plenty of USB ports, headset, mic, webcam built in, SD card slot in front, bluetooth.....all the goodies!

BATTERY - I went with the 6 cell battery and this thing lasts FOREVER. I am used to my Dell (no slam on Dell that thing has lived on many years, thousands of miles, being dropped, etc. and still works) but the battery life on this is insane.

SMALL BUT #1 - But you can only cram so much horsepower in a small light package so the internet performance with streaming video is not so great with stalls and such. I have not tried playing a DVD on it but that will be a big disappointment if that suffers.

SMALL BUT #2 - The track pad is small and located in an offset (rather than centered) position which takes some getting used to. The accuracy of the track pad is 3 star, a bit finicky. You need multiple strokes to go across the screen. If you set the mouse to cross in one stroke, it is too skittish to accurately highlight words and such with WORD and EXCEL.

Other than a couple of minor caveats, this thing rocks! And the cool blue color and styling doesn't hurt either.

"Samsung NC 10 Netbook gives high value content for the price!" 2009-07-19
By Hal H. Gist (Florence, AL)
After checking the consumer reporting magazine as well as online reviews I felt confident that the Samsung NC 10 Netbook would serve my needs for a lightweight travel tool. I ordered the blue one from Amazon.com for $397 at 3:30 p.m. and selected overnight shipping at approximately $26 additional. The netbook was delivered by Fedex at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. For $400 I was not expecting the same build quality as a $2,000 laptop. It is, however, much better quality than I was expecting for the price. Yes, the outer case is plastic which gives a slight creak upon opening and it does show smudges and fingerprints. So what? It seems very durable. I had anticipated using the netbook primarily for on-the-go connectivity and occasional at-home use when the desktop pc's were tied up. After owning and using this small computer for nearly a month I can very highly recommend it. It is extremely light and very portable. Boot up and shut down are quick. WiFi connections are fast. The screen is just large enough - anything smaller might make some internet pages illegible. The nearly full sized keyboard is ideal, no improvements are needed at all. Battery life has been amazing! I left the factory default settings for screen brightness, etc. and the battery regularly provides over six hours of service before a "plug me in" reminder pops up. I downloaded the free Open Office suite which includes a word processor, spread sheet, presentation program, drawing program and others. These are supposed to be completely compatible with similar "MS" programs used in many emails, etc.

When at home, I keep the netbook handy, within reach of my easy chair. It is so convenient to be able to crack it open, boot up within seconds and check email, perform some quick research, or make an online purchase. Although it was not intended for such frequent in-home use, it has become quite often used in place of one of the desk top computers. Friends and co-workers who have seen this netbook have been thoroughly amazed, especially at the quality and features as compared to the low price. Yes, I recommend this particular netbook and would most definitely purchase another one should I lose or damage this one.

 "Great laptop" 2009-07-18
By Rabble (Boston, MA)
I have nothing negative to say about this "netbook," as far as I am concerned it is just a small, light weight laptop. When I was looking for a netbook I had two major criteria; it had to weigh less than 3lbs and have a battery life greater than 4 hours. After reading all the reviews, I selected the NC10 and have been so delighted with it I bought another one for my wife. The screen is a good size to watch movies and surf the internet and with the added 1gb memory (which only costs around $26), I can run Microsoft office with no problems. This netbook, with its size and battery life, is great for travelers. I use it on the plane all the time. The only negative on this thing would be the speakers, you need to use ear phones...other than that it is a great buy.

 "Love it" 2009-07-16
By Valerie C. Wong (Los Angeles, CA)
I am not a computer geek or a person that know much about technology things. I owned this netbook for 8 months now and I am loving it. I used to own a Toshiba laptop and it was huge with a very loud noise and very heavy. I had back pain carrying it to school everyday and because the battery on that laptop only last for 30 mins it was a pain running around the lecture hall locating a plug. So i started to seek for something with a reasonable price, size, weight and function. And Samsung NC 10 qualified all my categories.

I carry it with me everywhere I go, it is very light and the I can type comfortably. It is like carrying my chihuahua, he is heavier than this netbook, can you believe it? I went on a trip to Las Vegas last week and I had it turned on all the way through on the road watching movies. I just cannot live without this netbook anymore.

But one think I didn't like is the speaker, it is very weak. The volume of the speaker is very limited. So I re-installed window xp and installed the original sound thing and it is much better. Other than that, I have zero complain for this tiny netbook.

The price is affortable, it is durable and easy to use. Good for college student or for people who always travels.

Hope this helps!
