I purchased the 24x Powered external cd-Rom drive in order to have a way of using the Asus support DVD.(Asus 1000HE,2gb ram) When I received this product it ran perfectly with CD's but would not recognize or run a dvd (the format of the Asus support DVD).The box it came in said CD-rom and DVD on it but no software or drvers came with it. I could not find any on the Asus or Micrososft website and even the IS people at work could not make it function. If Amazon is going to put it on the ASUS page with the implication that it will run Asus software then why won't it run!. 1. I though the price was pretty steep.

2. It takes longer then I would have expected from a new driver to copy a CD into my itunes.



But it can do everything it said it can do, and dose it well, just a tad slower then I would have liked. I thought we were in the future already were everything goes at lightning speed, guess not.

This is a great little DVD burner for anyone needing a drive for any functions concerning CDs and DVDs. I bought this one especially for setting up the newest Netbooks, which come without drives due to physical size limitations.



Using external drives and portable usb "thumb" drives is good for many applications and backup situations. But nothing beats having a DVD drive handy for original program or system installations. This unit is very compact, easily slipping into a notebook case along with the computer. Plus, it's quickly recognized by XP and Vista simply by plugging in.



It plays CDs and DVDs very well, and does a fairly quick job burning media too. For all these reasons, I would highly recommend this drive to anyone! I gave it a "five" star rating. On a 100% scale, I would rate it at least 95%.

Did it work? No. Is it plug and play? No. Is it worth the money? No. I tried this on both of my computers and neither could recognize it. It is going in the trash can where it should have been in the first place. Look for one from a company that actually knows how to produce ones that work.
