 "compatibility w/order" 2009-05-14
By Maynard Loring (ME)
I purchased this item with an Asus 904 with the intention of using it as a bag to travel with holding the PC. As it turns out, the item is not compatible with the Asus 904 item, being too small for the PC to fit into the case.

Although I was able to return the item, albeit for a small fee, and replace it with the correct case (I believe 11038) at a later date, I think that your system should check the compatibility of the items at the time of the first order. I believe that the original order recommended this number to ship with the PC I ordered.

I'm not displeased with the product, I'm frustrated with the need to go through the replacement and incidental cost involved after the purchase.

 "Good, Solid Case" 2009-03-10
By Example: Mark Twain (Example: Florida, MO USA)
This case offers good protection. The sides are hard plastic covered in fabric. Fits the 7" Asus Eee PC's form perfectly snug. Zipper is easy to manipulate.

There is not enough room in the case to carry a charger, mouse, or anything else besides a couple slips of paper, for that matter. This case has to be completely opened while charging the Asus. It also has a handle that will attract the ridicule of your friends while in use.

Please read product description before purchasing, lest you complain about being unable to stow a laptop not meant for this case.

 "Mini Laptop Case" 2008-09-16
By Debbie Olson (Iowa)
This case does NOT, I repeat, does NOT fit any mini laptop with an 8' screen or larger. It is too short in the width and the height. It is so tight that even if you could, there would be no room for anything else, no matter how small. Not even as much as a pen. To send it back and get a replacement will cost all most as much as the case itself. I'll use it to carry the cords and mini mouse I got and the charger. It barely even holds that. This is more like a case for a 7 inch mini laptop. The handle for carrying is quite small too and I wear a small in women's gloves. Not a good choice for any computer to be carried in. You'd be better off to buy a brief case to carry it in and then you could get all your extra items in it too and lock it.

 "Description exaggerates product's virtues" 2009-03-10
By A. Nelson
First of all, I did order this for a netbook other than the eee pc. This sleeve came up on Amazon's list of "cases and sleeves designed especially to fit your new netbook," but I still compared the measurements of the sleeve to my netbook. It should have fit, but it wasn't even close. The measurements given in the description are 10 x 7.5 x 1.3. Yes, it is 10" across, but only if you smash it down as flat as it will go with nothing in it, at which point it is only about 1/2" thick (not 1.3"). When it's smashed, it is 7.75" high, and when it's filled, it's 7.3". You wouldn't measure a suitcase by mashing down the sides to measure the width and then fluffing it up again to measure depth, so I'm not sure why they exaggerated the volume. Secondly, the "wallet" sounds fancier than it is- a plain, unlined pocket with absolutely no extra depth given to it. It would be ideal for a to-do list or a few business cards. Yes, accessories will fit in there because the fabric stretches, but it will create a distinctive bulge and offer very little protection. I'm sure you could shove a power cord in there, but I certainly wouldn't want to put real accessories in like a mouse. Finally, the description claims "complete protection for your eee pc." Maybe that's true. I don't have an eee pc. However, unless said eee pc is made of rubber, I think that's maybe claiming a little too much credit. It's a GLOVE. Yes, it will help protect against bumps and jabs, but it is just one layer of thick stretchy fabric. There is no foam, nothing structured, nothing hard to protect it from a real drop or even a heavy amount of water. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, there is a rather oddly placed lip that makes zipping more difficult. If you just want a lightweight, simple something to cover your SMALLER than 8.9" netbook and you don't mind that it (literally) reeks of man-made materials, this will be great. Otherwise, I would recommend that you keep looking.

"Functions well, desirable color but strange and irritating internal lip" 2008-10-17
By Paul D. English
This seems to work reasonably well for it's purpose - protecting the Eee PC. Like many products out there it is not glaringly clear that this will work for different models of the Eee PC or which ones.

Let me say that it does work for the Eee PC 901 with the extended battery.

The color was one that my girlfriend wanted - so that is a win.

The big annoyance to me is that in order to protect the Eee PC from the zipper (a good thing to do), there is an internal labia of fabric that you need to pull over the Eee PC before you zip it closed. You also typically need to nudge it aside a bit to pull it back out. This is extremely annoying as an additional step - you can't just whip it out and stick it back in again. I understand the purpose, but perhaps an alternative would have been an all-plastic or teflon coated zipper? I'm not sure what would work. Perhaps on a case like this a zipper is just a bad idea.

1. I though the price was pretty steep.

2. It takes longer then I would have expected from a new driver to copy a CD into my itunes.

But it can do everything it said it can do, and dose it well, just a tad slower then I would have liked. I thought we were in the future already were everything goes at lightning speed, guess not.

"Nice compact unit in neutral white finish" 2009-06-20
By Bill Bennett (Lake City, FL USA)
This is a great little DVD burner for anyone needing a drive for any functions concerning CDs and DVDs. I bought this one especially for setting up the newest Netbooks, which come without drives due to physical size limitations.

Using external drives and portable usb "thumb" drives is good for many applications and backup situations. But nothing beats having a DVD drive handy for original program or system installations. This unit is very compact, easily slipping into a notebook case along with the computer. Plus, it's quickly recognized by XP and Vista simply by plugging in.

It plays CDs and DVDs very well, and does a fairly quick job burning media too. For all these reasons, I would highly recommend this drive to anyone! I gave it a "five" star rating. On a 100% scale, I would rate it at least 95%.

"Works for Dell Mini 9" 2008-11-29

This is a good, basic sleeve to protect your netbook. I purchased it for my Dell Mini 9 and it works fine. No room to spare for accessories, but a sleeve is really just for protecting the unit so it serves its purpose. The outside pocket is too small to hold anything more than a memory stick or flash drive.

"Love it except for the Mouse Pad" 2009-07-25
By Meengla (Clemson, SC United States)
I think there are enough good/bad Reviews of this product already in this site and so I will restrict mine to a few comments:

1) This is a great, beautiful netbook for the price. The white-colored outside makes it stand out in the typical-low priced laptop/netbook market.

2) The keyboard--while understandably smaller--is not too bad for typing. The keys are soft-touched and feel very nice.

3) The mouse-pad. Absolutely bad. The left and right mouse buttons are understandly in little grooves but they are quite hard to get used to. Over past 10 years I have had at least 12 laptops and this one's mouse pad has been the worst. BUT...use an external USB mouse and that will solve the problem.

4) The computer handles most 'normal' laptop works quite well. Boots up fast. XP Home is adequate and reliable.

5) Now the best part for me: This netbook can easily handle the Instant Watch movies of Netflix. I have this sort of permanently hooked up to our bedroom's 27" LCD tv via VGA cable and the audio to external desktop speakers (with subwoofers) and we have now have a cheap home theater system in place. What was amazing is that playing on the LCD TV (a cheap Insignia) allowed me to increase the screen resolution from 1024x600 to 1024x768!

6) The built-in speakers are -very- inadequate. Invest in headphones or hook upto external powered-speakers and the sound will be be great! Yes, beautiful stereo sound.

7) We also have some of our home DVDs 'ripped' onto a networked hard drive (Western Digital My Book 2 TB) in .avi format using So Think media's DVD ripper. Each .avi file is typically 2 GB in size. This little puppy loads these video just fine over a wireless network and plays without any hangups onto the large LCD tv screen. I have even played High Definition (720p ones) .avi files without any issues using the network drive. Wow!

8) There is a low humming noise from this unit. Don't know if it is the fan or hard-drive. It can be annoying if you choose to concentrate on that.

9) Oh, the wireless internet connection is likely to be slow for you because of the default setting to save battery life. I recorded as low as 58kbps on [...] testing. That was very annoying. I did some Bing and Google searches and it turned out that I had to change some settings for the power-mode for the wireless adapters. Problem solved.

10) In just web-surfing mode I am confident that the battery will last at least 5 hours. With a mixed-mode experience of web-surfing, watching .avi, watching You Tube the battery almost ran out near 5 hours. Not bad!

11) If you want to watch Netflix's Instant movies then don't buy any netbook with less than 10gb hard-drive--that won't work. I used to have an Asus EEE PC with 4 gb Solid State drive and that did not work for Netlix.

12) Enjoy this great device by hooking up with Skype or Magic Jack. Get a broad-band USB internet connection card with some cell phone carriers. A GPS service hooked up to this. Extra battery if needed. Wireless mouse/keyboard...You can do so much with such devices and you can be truly 'mobile' even with Magic Jack attached.

13) Related note: Recently Walmart started broadcasting an Asus 8.9" for only $238. They are claiming an Intel Atom processor. That is not true! Theirs' is a Celeron processor. Don't buy a Celeron netbook because Atoms are better and worth a few extra bucks. Someone needs to correct Walmart.

14) Admiteddly, this netbook was NOT my first choice. I wanted an 8.9" Asus but those darn things are sold out everywhere the last I checked. I have another 2-year old Acer Aspire 14.1" regular laptop but I am not a big fan of that though that one is hooked to the living room's 52" LCD tv and is still doing all Netflix, You Tube, network .avi files playback just fine. May be I will buy another Acer again--I used to think they are the 'Yugo' of the laptop market.

PS. 'A few words' turned out to be so many words :)

 "Owning an AOA150-1447" 2009-07-20
By Fritz Barowsky
I have owned a 1447 Acer AOA150 for a couple months now. I am all about compact performance and Internet access from where ever, when ever.

PROs:

Performance, this device is no light weight in that area compared to devices I have used of 11" on down to this 8.9" screen. It handles the 160GB drive and XP as well as any small laptop computer I have used. In fact the ability to buy this device with XP on it with good performance was mandatory.

Who needs drive media anymore. I have a Sony VGN with a DVD writer, but I find little use for spinning drives anymore. I do have a portable DVD which I can plug into the USB port, should I have a need, but as we have dumped the 3.5 floppy drive, we will do this with the rest of the mechanical media soon.

802.11N would be nice, however my "G" network does a great job today, and the telco's haven't given us more the 20GB since they haven't figured out the Internet anyway. They still have some circuit switch devices they want to milk us consumers for, and the FCC is protecting that monopolistic practice. So with a great cable port, and up to a "G" wireless connection this device does well in traditional network environments.

Keyboard is very comfortable and usable for on the go use as well. Small, but much better then any mobile phone or tablets I have tried. Any smaller, and I would expect whiners, but right now even larger then normal hands can work this.

CONs:

Very dissatisfied that I can't plug my 3G datacard into this device. Why any company would build something called a "Netbook" and not provide all of the current networking capable solutions, doesn't make significant sense. I will have to purchase a USB 3G solution to really use this as a "Real" Netbook. Oh well some design engineer was shooting for a price point and threw out the 3G functionality, or decided to create it as an overpriced feature. Maybe they should have considered the fact that no DVD or mechanical drive could justify the $2 3G datacard slot for the true network user.

Also has no Bluetooth, whats up with that!?!?

Summary:

Oh well I like the device, but probably will continue looking for a real Netbook. Always have the early builders, and early adopters that reach for what isn't there yet.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1577 10.1-Inch Diamond Black Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery LifeI bought this computer for MY father's day gift. There are four computers in my house, this is the one everyone wants to use! It boots Fast, 6-cell battery last up to 7 hours, finds wireless networks better than my full size laptop, runs MS Office very well with just 1 GIG. of memory. At 2.5 lbs. it is great for people on the go, business, or pleasure it is computer I choose to take on the road. Suggest anyone who want a external drive to load software go to you local computer store and purchase a USB to IDE, cable setup (this cable does IDE, SETA, and Scussy drives) for 20.00 to 30.00 dollars, pick up a internal RW-DVD drive for 30.00 or so and bingo load anything you want. Finally, this really is the best deal (299.00) I have ever gotten on a new computer!!

"Few Minor Flaws, but Still Great" 2009-07-17
By X_HOBBES (NJ, USA)
I love this thing! It has a few minor flaws that could have been easily improved. That's why it got 4 stars instead of 5.

PROS:

- Excellent battery life (about 6-7 hours)

- Suspend works well (I have it mapped to the power key for quick standby/resume)

- Display is incredibly crisp

- Keyboard feels great, despite being small

- Great construction (doesn't feel flimsy at all)

- Really nice job on the WinXP Home installation -- not bloated with junk, etc.

- Highly-customizable Synaptics touchpad (great management software)

- Fast for a cheap netbook

- Very portable

- Great for browsing the web on the couch or on the road

CONS:

- Home and End keys are Fn keys (you need to hold down Fn+PgUp to get Home and Fn+PgDn to get End). Instead, it has PrtSc, Pause, and Ins keys -- not nearly as useful as Home and End would be.

- Keyboard is a bit small and takes some getting used to.

- Status lights cannot be seen when the lid is closed.

- Small touchpad makes it too easy to scroll instead of moving the pointer.

- Scroll doesn't always work because it starts at about 1/8 of an inch away from the molded edge of the touchpad.

- Dead zone at the bottom 1/4 inch of the already small touchpad makes moving the mouse a bit annoying at times (but see below).

- Only 1024 x 600 resolution (although this is common with netbooks). The 600 rows make it a bit tough to view content.

Overall, this netbook is great. I considered others that were slimmer and lighter (like the HP), but they have much smaller hard drives and shorter battery life. Plus, I got a 90 day return policy and 2 year warranty by buying from [...].

As for the touchpad with a 1/4 inch dead zone at the bottom and scrolling issues, I simply put a 1/4 inch piece of clear tape along the bottom and right edges of the touchpad. This provides just enough texture for a finger to sense the edges of the mouse area and to know where the scroll area is. It is much easier to use now.

"Great Netbook, nice stlying, lightweight....small buts" 2009-07-25
By B. V. Dam (California, USA)
After carrying around a brick in my briefcase for years, I decided I needed to get a sub or netbook. After researching for months, I decided on the Samsung. I am very happy with this purchase

SCREEN - The screen is crystal clear, bright and well made so it is easier to read than I had expected.

KEYBOARD - My worries about the keyboard size are unfounded as it is surprisingly large and easy to type on even long term

FEATURES - Plenty of USB ports, headset, mic, webcam built in, SD card slot in front, bluetooth.....all the goodies!

BATTERY - I went with the 6 cell battery and this thing lasts FOREVER. I am used to my Dell (no slam on Dell that thing has lived on many years, thousands of miles, being dropped, etc. and still works) but the battery life on this is insane.

SMALL BUT #1 - But you can only cram so much horsepower in a small light package so the internet performance with streaming video is not so great with stalls and such. I have not tried playing a DVD on it but that will be a big disappointment if that suffers.

SMALL BUT #2 - The track pad is small and located in an offset (rather than centered) position which takes some getting used to. The accuracy of the track pad is 3 star, a bit finicky. You need multiple strokes to go across the screen. If you set the mouse to cross in one stroke, it is too skittish to accurately highlight words and such with WORD and EXCEL.

Other than a couple of minor caveats, this thing rocks! And the cool blue color and styling doesn't hurt either.

This netbook has been easy to use and met all my expectations. I find it better than the Acer.

"Samsung NC 10 Netbook gives high value content for the price!" 2009-07-19
By Hal H. Gist (Florence, AL)
After checking the consumer reporting magazine as well as online reviews I felt confident that the Samsung NC 10 Netbook would serve my needs for a lightweight travel tool. I ordered the blue one from Amazon.com for $397 at 3:30 p.m. and selected overnight shipping at approximately $26 additional. The netbook was delivered by Fedex at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. For $400 I was not expecting the same build quality as a $2,000 laptop. It is, however, much better quality than I was expecting for the price. Yes, the outer case is plastic which gives a slight creak upon opening and it does show smudges and fingerprints. So what? It seems very durable. I had anticipated using the netbook primarily for on-the-go connectivity and occasional at-home use when the desktop pc's were tied up. After owning and using this small computer for nearly a month I can very highly recommend it. It is extremely light and very portable. Boot up and shut down are quick. WiFi connections are fast. The screen is just large enough - anything smaller might make some internet pages illegible. The nearly full sized keyboard is ideal, no improvements are needed at all. Battery life has been amazing! I left the factory default settings for screen brightness, etc. and the battery regularly provides over six hours of service before a "plug me in" reminder pops up. I downloaded the free Open Office suite which includes a word processor, spread sheet, presentation program, drawing program and others. These are supposed to be completely compatible with similar "MS" programs used in many emails, etc.

When at home, I keep the netbook handy, within reach of my easy chair. It is so convenient to be able to crack it open, boot up within seconds and check email, perform some quick research, or make an online purchase. Although it was not intended for such frequent in-home use, it has become quite often used in place of one of the desk top computers. Friends and co-workers who have seen this netbook have been thoroughly amazed, especially at the quality and features as compared to the low price. Yes, I recommend this particular netbook and would most definitely purchase another one should I lose or damage this one.

 "Great laptop" 2009-07-18
By Rabble (Boston, MA)
I have nothing negative to say about this "netbook," as far as I am concerned it is just a small, light weight laptop. When I was looking for a netbook I had two major criteria; it had to weigh less than 3lbs and have a battery life greater than 4 hours. After reading all the reviews, I selected the NC10 and have been so delighted with it I bought another one for my wife. The screen is a good size to watch movies and surf the internet and with the added 1gb memory (which only costs around $26), I can run Microsoft office with no problems. This netbook, with its size and battery life, is great for travelers. I use it on the plane all the time. The only negative on this thing would be the speakers, you need to use ear phones...other than that it is a great buy.

 "Love it" 2009-07-16
By Valerie C. Wong (Los Angeles, CA)
I am not a computer geek or a person that know much about technology things. I owned this netbook for 8 months now and I am loving it. I used to own a Toshiba laptop and it was huge with a very loud noise and very heavy. I had back pain carrying it to school everyday and because the battery on that laptop only last for 30 mins it was a pain running around the lecture hall locating a plug. So i started to seek for something with a reasonable price, size, weight and function. And Samsung NC 10 qualified all my categories.

I carry it with me everywhere I go, it is very light and the I can type comfortably. It is like carrying my chihuahua, he is heavier than this netbook, can you believe it? I went on a trip to Las Vegas last week and I had it turned on all the way through on the road watching movies. I just cannot live without this netbook anymore.

But one think I didn't like is the speaker, it is very weak. The volume of the speaker is very limited. So I re-installed window xp and installed the original sound thing and it is much better. Other than that, I have zero complain for this tiny netbook.

The price is affortable, it is durable and easy to use. Good for college student or for people who always travels.

Hope this helps!
