just like the previous reviewer said this is A LOT LIGHTER than carbon fiber. actually it looks NOTHING like carbon fiber. i am a fan of import motorcycles and cars. i really like the aftermarket carbon fiber parts that you can get for them so i thought it would be cool to have a carbon fiber look to my asus eee 1000he. but now it looks more like a gucci bag. LOL
carbon fiber is supposed to be black on black fibers. type "carbon fiber" in google and click the images section. you will see that most carbon fiber is all black.
i'm not returning it though. mainly because i'm lazy. but it is a good quality vinyl and the adhesive is excellent. it sticks on firm but can be easily pulled off to adjust. the quality of the material really is great.
but if you want a carbon fiber look....this is NOT it. i still think this is better than the skulls, flowers and flames though. it does look classy (gucci bag) so i'm basically happy with it.
my low score is just because the stock photo doesn't really look like the actual item. i'm going to put up my own pics so you can see what it really looks like.
update: ok i added pictures to show what it looks like on a blue asus eee 1000he. just a note on the picture of the palm rests: the skin for the palm rest originally came as ONE peice (two squares with a thin strip in between) i cut off the thin strip so they are actually now two seperate squares. i figured this would be a lot easier to apply than having the thin strip in the middle not aligning right. i would definitely recommend doing this. makes putting on the palm rest skin a lot easier.

I usually do not like trusting marketplace dealers on Amazon, but I decided to go ahead and order this skin from mygift anyways. I have a black 1000he, and wanted a dark, simple skin that would protect the machine from myself. I decided against the all black (not sure if this color is offered on Amazon, but I actually went to mygift.com and checked out their selection there) since I didnt' want to chance the blacks not beig the same color, and the other 'designs' were a little much for me. So carbon fiber it is, with much reservation since to me, carbon fiber screams rice rocket.
Anyways, the skin was received within a week, and packaged well to make sure no carrier folded the skin. Seeing the color for the first time... I was certainly taken back. It is a LOT brighter than the pictures would suggest, on Amazon and on their own website. It looks almost like textured silver. At first, I didn't like it. It is certainly growing on me now since I've had it.
As for the application itself, it comes on a big sheet, and you peal the two skins off, one for the lid and one for the palm rest. The palm rest is one piece, with a thin strip connecting the two bigger pieces of the left and right side of the touch pad. Applying the skins was a lot easier than I had anticipated. The adhesive is sticky enough to stay on, but easy to work with if you didn't press it down straight. A tip, don't pres the curve edges down until the end. Start with the curved corners, and then work your way out to smooth it out. It took me some time and it turned out ok.
I like how the skin protects against the scratches. You will still get the finger prints, but since it is not glossy black it is not as noticeable. I give this 4/5 cause of the color, but other than that, it is a great skin to have to protect your 1000.
