This CDROM drive needs a special driver; it worked on Windows XP, but not on Mac OSX 10.5. The manufacturer said that it was compatible with ASUS EEE PC, but that was only partly correct. On my EEE PC1000, it worked with the pre-installed Linux, but not from the BIOS, which meant that I could not boot from it to install a different Linux.
A Linux netbook gets data over the network or from a USB thumbdrive. There is little need for a CDROM except to install Linux. I have since found a way to install Linux from a thumbdrive and I have no use for this CDROM drive. But it's too cheap to bother to return.

when i got this i try to install some driver to my acer aspire 1 but is not working even the music CD is not working my god i waste my money for this its better 2 buy a good 1 from good manufacturer plss think a lot b4 buy this to ottoman waste are time and money so disappointed

I just got this external CD drive and find it to be perfect for installing my anti-virus software on to my little netbook. What a great buy! The seller got it to me fast too. I have no complaints.

Ordered on a Sunday morning and arrived on Tuesday with standard shipping.
Pros: Does what it is supposed to do, I immediately loaded a couple of photo programs on my Asus notebook and also Civilization III, Conquests.
Cons: If you are a Cal resident they charge tax. No big deal.

Easy to setup, lightweight, small in size but performs well. I recommend this item to anyone that recently purchased a netbook and needs to load a few sotware items on to the netbook. Get this item as it does exactly what it was designed to do.
